Arachnid Terrain Vehicles
Matt Denton’s Legged Cars Are an Imposing Figure

By: Ian Andrew Panganiban (Star) Apr 17, 13

There’s no doubt that the appearance of vehicular machines constantly change and with that in mind, it seems that a legged car is the next evolution in private transportation.

Matt Denton and Micromagic Systems created the ‘Mantis,’ a six-legged robot. It’s powered by a 2.2, 50 horsepower turbo diesel engine, stands at at impressive 2.8 meters tall, weighs 1900 kg and can also be controlled via WiFi. The legged vehicular robot is able to travel through multiple types of terrain with ease, since it doesn’t have wheels to encumber it. Grated, the robot is somewhat slow in terms of actual movement, but just the sheer imposing size of it is enough reason to take it out for run, plus a vehicle having legs is simply awesome.
