The Colombian National Department of Statistics reports that in 2011, about 9.2 percent of children between the ages of 5 to 17 were identified as “working” in Columbia, but now you can help put a stop to this illegal activity by using the Kid Rescue app.

Developed by Telefónica Telecom, the Kid Rescue App allows users to snap a photo of the working child, enter his or her information, and then geotag the photo. The photo and accompanying info is then sent to the Kid Rescue site, where they become part of a central database accessible to social workers and child labor organizations that determine whether action is needed.

As the video here points out, Columbia has 1.6 million uneducated children, half of whom work. According to Springwise, however, the Kid Rescue app has already been used to identify over 1,000 child laborers, over 60 of whom have been removed from the streets.
