Fingerprint-Mapping Tablet Art
Jonas Carlsson Depicts Typical Finger Movements for iPad Apps

By: Amanda Greer (Star) Jun 17, 13

Designer Jonas Carlsson has cleverly depicted typical finger patterns of different iPad applications with his new tablet art. This minimalist series shows different iPads, each with a telling fingerprint pattern on their touchscreens. Everything from Photos to Angry Birds is included in the series. The ‘Photos’ shot shows fingerprints that slide back and forth across a screen, since on touchscreens, sliding your finger causes the photos to change.

The most memorable shot is definitely the one depicting the fingerprint pattern for iDraft. Since this app allows for drawing using fingers, the resulting pattern is a blurry side profile portrait of a mysterious figure.

Carlsson’s iPad art is representative of the world’s preoccupation with technology. His series injects fine art with technology, showing that the world now considers technology-created products to be just as artistic as organically created works.
