UV-Light Thread Installations
Korean Artist Jeongmoon Choi Plays with Perception and Illusion

{SummaryTitle}

Korean artist Jeongmoon Choi creates mind-boggling art installations that use UV lights and thread in a very mesmerizing way. Jeongmoon Choi essentially erects geometric, architecture-like ‘sculptures’ that glow mysteriously as though they were a digital rendering of some sort. What can be likened to a ‘Star Trek’ holodeck or the virtual world of ‘TRON’ is nevertheless much simpler although just as impressive.

Living and working between Berlin and Seoul, Jeongmoon Choi has utilized these common materials to play with perspective and illusion. Similar to a laser light show, the thread creates fields of three-dimensional lines that are then lit with ultraviolet light to create interactive environments. Jeongmoon Choi currently has a show at the Gallerie Laurent Mueller in Paris.
