Snail-inspired Transporters
J.D Truck Has the Sinuous Form of the Escargot for Streamlined Design

By: Amelia Roblin (Superstar) Dec 4, 12

Nature is brilliant inspiration for even the most artificial objects, as one can observe in the design of the J.D Truck. Jad Bek Alshaikh’s concept channels the exquisite curling form of the snail shell to produce a vehicle that’s unexpectedly aesthetically pleasing.

I say unexpectedly because this smoothly sculpted lorry is meant to be a garbage truck. It comprises an enclosed cockpit at the front for the driver, mimicking the look of an emerging antennae-topped slug. This is connected to a rounded receptacle trailer for storing and hauling trash.

Organic lines and curving contours appear to have been embellished from the modeling of modern automobiles in order to reference the elegant insect. Such design decisions make the J.D Truck a great deal more attractive and a much more efficient drive, especially for turning corners.
