Overgrown Pedestrian Overpasses
Issy les Moulineaux Promenade is a Natural Connection in Paris

{SummaryTitle}

It can be challenging to bring greenery back into a city from which it was previously covered or removed, but the Issy les Moulineaux Promenade is a fine example of a project that takes on this task. Looking more like an organic relic from an untouched territory, this leafy footpath is a breath of fresh air in a bustling urban environment.

Stephane Malka Architecture suggests a reorganization of some of the major raised roads within this Parisian suburb, offering drivers, walkers and inhabitants fresh views of familiar buildings. The pedestrian bridge itself will also be a part of a rather remarkable vista.

A sturdy steel structure will span the distance between the neighborhood train station and the river Seine, and with its packed on soil and generously planted shrubs, the ‘Parissy’ Issy les Moulineaux Promenade project will exist as the city’s connection to nature.
