Find solace and relaxation inside this interactive segmented cocoon. Designed as a place for users to escape the stresses and realities of the outside world, the cocoon is made up of white painted wood and metal structures. Each piece is free-formed and fits together in a meshed pattern around a circular frame.
The art piece is suited for indoor and outdoor use and evolves into a new shape every time the “door” is opened and closed. It’s designed so that when all the pieces line up, they create an opening into the structure. The segments can then be rotated again, which closes the door by creating asymmetrical configuration.
The cocoon is designed by Michael Jantzen who says, “I designed the Interactive Segmented Cocoons to become playful functional art pieces that can be used as special places in which to retreat from the ordinary and just have fun.”
