These innovative online shopping methods are exemplary of how the lines of virtual and traditional brick-and-mortar storefronts are finding happy mediums. Although shopping from the privacy of your computer at home and having orders shipped to your door seems convenient enough, some retailers are taking their services up a notch.
Since so many consumers carry around smartphones and other devices that are able to make purchases on-the-go, retailers are taking advantage of this by mixing real-world products with digital devices. The Ebay x Kate Spade Pop-Up Shop, for example, took an exclusively online store and created a digital storefront with a touchscreen to let consumers browse and buy from the street.
Similarly, Korea’s E-Mart developed a balloon equipped with free Wi-Fi to help people connect to its app and conveniently make purchases from locations where there wasn’t a physical store nearby.
