Entitled ‘Freeze’, the Hsi-An Chu 2013 collection boasts sculptural silhouettes and architectural design elements. Taking inspiration from winter’s frost, the London University of Arts MA graduate creates an edgy and avant-garde collection of garments that can be classified as wearable art pieces.
The Hsi-An Chu ‘Freeze’ collection is created using a rather surprising and unexpected material, silicone. The malleable material is carefully moulded into a number of sculptural shapes that are easily transformed into textile form and later mass produced.
Playing with varying transparencies and opacities, this striking collection of dresses highlights textural layering techniques and customized textile prints. These vivid elements are captured in a catalog by visionary photographer Karoliina Barlund and sported by model chameleon Nastya.
