Coiling Towers
'Howe + Beach' by Big Architects Makes Twisted Residential Homes

By: Kevin Young (Star) Apr 17, 12

The entrance to the City of Vancouver will be greeted with a fascinating and oddly shaped building titled ‘Beach + Howe’ by BIG Architects. This coiling tower will sit at the gateway to the city alongside a highway that’s bound to distract drivers with its stunning design. Copenhagen-based BIG Architects is known for its circular-shaped designs that revolve around curves.

This tower will join the family skyline of buildings and will be the fourth tallest. From top to bottom, the building is covered with a striking appearance; at the bottom of the structure is a nine-story podium that offers architectural appeal that’s more like a giant art sculpture.

There’ll be 600 units in this residential tower that hovers over pollution and noise zones while commercial spaces and a public plaza sits below. The ‘Beach + Howe’ by BIG Architects is sure to be the future gem of Vancouver.
