Kite-Powered Concept Cars
The Honda Kaze Harnesses Wind and Sun Power to Work

By: Amelia Roblin (Superstar) Jan 6, 12

Here’s hoping it won’t take until the year 2050 for a vehicle like the Honda Kaze to become a reality. Sadly, most Westerners are not currently concerned enough for the welfare of the planet to significantly reduce their use of a car as a primary means of transportation, but with concepts like this one on the horizon, perhaps saying goodbye to one’s private ride will no longer be a natural necessity.

The Zero Emissions Car was conceived as a submission for a competition and it certainly incorporates a variety of features to guarantee it would get noticed. The expansive curving windshield is enhanced by transparent solar panels, and a slanted sail on the back of the Honda Kaze can catch wind for propulsion. A kite strung out front of the eco automobile augments the forward thrust when the weather conditions are sufficiently gusty.
