Cloud World Drawings
Artist Hilary Brace Creates Heavenly Artwork Using Charcoal

By: Meghan Young (Superstar) Mar 30, 13
{SummaryTitle}

If there was a world up in the clouds, artist Hilary Brace has envisioned exactly what it would look like. Working with the smooth surface of polyester film darkened with charcoal, Hilary Brace proceeds in a reductive manner by using erasers and other handmade tools to create her whimsical images, they look look almost like film photographs.

Even the New York Times describes Hilary Brace’s work as magical, “Once in a while you come across an art of such refined technique that it seems the product of sorcery more than human craft.” Perhaps this is due to the fact that little premeditation goes behind each artwork. Instead they unfold in excitingly unexpected ways through a more explorative process.
