Popsicle-Shaped Heatstroke Detectors
This High-Tech Thermometer Evaluates Chances of Heatstroke

By: Jen Chae (Star) Jul 31, 13

Using a pre-set heat index standardized by the Japan Weather Association, this high-tech thermometer notifies you of how likely it is that you’ll develop heatstroke. The funny thing is that this device is shaped like a frozen treat, probably in attempt to beat the summer heat with a visually cool design. Its cute design is interesting because it’s oddly cute for something that alarms people of a serious hazard.

This product is by a Japanese company called Harada Industry Co. Ltd. Named the Tsu Chi watch, the portable heat index calculates humidity and temperature to determine possibilities of a heatstroke. The device issues warnings accordingly through its five different light-up levels. The device, which is a must-have for those who work outdoors, is sold for about $23 USD.
