Beer Bottle Bricks
The Heineken Wobo is a Booze Bottle That can Also be Used for Building

By: Jordan M (Rockstar) Mar 5, 11
{SummaryTitle}

Alfred Heineken first designed the Heineken Wobo in 1963 After visiting the Carribbean, but because bottle-strewn beaches and a lack of sturdy and affordable building materials are still problems that afflict the region, his idea remains as poignant and potentially helpful as ever.

Meant to combat both issues, the Heineken Wobo’s unique design allowed it to be easily turned into a strong and sound brick after fulfilling its original purpose without the need for cutting or breaking the bottle.

Unfortunately, the only structures that exist today which are made out of the Heineken Wobo are a shed at the ‘Heineken estate’ and a single wall which can be found at the Heineken Museum in Amsterdam. Nevertheless, the invention’s fantastic dual-purpose capabilities could very well still hold the key to low-cost building ventures in developing countries.
