Deliriously Chipper Music Videos
The New Lonely Island 'Great Day' Video is Controversial

By: Amanda Greer (Star) Apr 2, 13
{SummaryTitle}

The Lonely Island first caught everyone’s attention back in ‘08 and has since gone on to pleasure the humor bones of many with videos like the recent ‘Great Day.’ From ‘3-Way,’ to ‘Jack Sparrow’ and the recent ‘YOLO’ ft. Adam Levine, the Lonely Island guys are successfully becoming the kings of parody.

In their latest video, Andy Samberg plays a down-on-his-luck coke-addicted middle-aged man who has lost his job, wife and kids, but is still stuck in a fantasy world where people dance down the street behind you to elaborately choreographed dance numbers. It’s pretty obvious that the video is a commentary on the economy, adulthood and the idea of “success.”

Samberg pokes fun at seemingly “deep” sentiments by stating in the song, “there’s so much of the ocean that is unexplored.”
