Artist Norman Rockwell is perhaps best remembered for his fanciful slice-of-life illustrations of New York City life from the Saturday Evening Post, but what if he’d been around in another famous—though fictional—city?
Artist Mark Dos Santos’s series ‘Gotham Evening Post’ imagines that, taking scenes from Batman and company’s life, Rockwell’s distinct, kitschy style could be applied to the comics. Most of them are holiday-themed and played for laughs, like a crew of bad guys sitting down for Christmas dinner. At the same time, images such as Batman watching a family share a meal are serious and tragic.
