Ross Smith's Gamification Keynote Discusses Productivity Games

In this gamification keynote, Director of Test for Microsoft Ross Smith discusses how gaming transforms the workplace. He strongly believes in the idea that active play, when designed and implemented efficiently, can have work and tasks completed properly and more efficiently.

Ross develops “productivity games,” which target the unique skill set and knowledge possessed by the generation entering the workforce today. Spearheading a project called 42 Projects, Smith found that a common theme with new employees is under-utilization. Gaming can solve this by incorporating play and fun in the workplace, by building trust between employee and employer and by innovating the ways leaders manage.

Productivity games can be designed to utilize a unique set of qualities or skills to help complete tasks more quickly and effectively, all the while engaging employees.
