For the majority of light fixtures, the ornamental element is in the main structure of the lamp or in its lampshade. In the case of these Flos String Lights, the electrical cord is what makes them stand out and what singles them out as the component that next impacts its setting most, after the luminescence that it emits.
Michael Anastassiades took minimalist cones and spheres as fixtures, equipped them with LED lights and suspended them on the ends of lengthy wires. The active cables are anchored to the wall or the ceiling with round rosettes and they’re strung up through loops, over hooks or linked up through other cords to create geometric configurations. The seemingly rigid horizontal lines and the taut diagonals make the Flos String Lights look as though they defy gravity.
