It’s so easy for the aesthetic design of cutting-edge gadgets to lose touch with more organic forms. Of course, this evolution is entirely natural. But with objects like this faucet by Daniele Grande, the function may request some sort of physical reference to the earth.

This tap was treated symbolically like a sort of spring, unfolding elegantly to supply the user with a stream of clean water. Continuing still on this notion of natural representation, the fixture was sculpted to the fluid form of a plant.

Specifically, the Newform Design Contest entry was inspired by the bending form of the mangrove—rooted in the soil but bathing in the freshness of the ocean. In addition to a shape that’s so visually intriguing, the faucet by Daniele Grande impresses further with its compelling amalgamation of a techie temperature-setting system.
