Ever wondered what the result would be if Hannibal Lecter turned his hand to art?

I’m guessing it would be something like these disturbing paintings by Milan-based artist Valerio Carrubba.

While they are somewhat reminiscent of 16th-century anatomical plates, his hyperrealistic works also look a lot like medical procedures gone frighteningly wrong!

As if psyching ourselves into going to the dentist wasn’t difficult enough already, now we have the image of a man’s mouth being peeled back to deal with.
