Media Vortex Artwork
The Event Horizon Exhibit is a Whirlwind View of Technology

{SummaryTitle}

Event Horizon is a solo exhibition created by Leticia r. Bajuyo for the Women and Their Work gallery in Texas. The disc cyclones wind and twist until they get to a wooded wall structure where they spread out into an array of compact dics that could contain the data of movies, music and computer files.

Bajuyo explains that the two vortex walls “[transform] yesterday’s media hits and today’s detritus into a disco vortex.” The two opposing walls for the Event Horizon exhibit form a whirling blockade that plays with the printed labels on each disc to make the sculpture seem as if it is spinning. The walls portray fearsome multicolored black holes that causes you to imagine yourself being sucked in by the prismatic CDs and tossed around by the whirling media.
