Vancouver’s recently-completed Empire Field Stadium is an athlete’s recycled paradise. The field used 22,000 recycled tires during the creation of the building. The total pounds of crumb rubber that were used amounted to 346,000!
The crumb rubber was put underneath the turf, which is both beneficial for the environment and the athletes. More and more buildings and stadiums are using recycled material in their creation, aiding the earth in the process. This is a great idea, as rubber is pretty hard to dispose of when it’s done being used. Way to go Empire Field Stadium.
