Nested Seedling Packaging
Eggrow by Kevin Craft Contains Lush Life within a Ceramic Shell

By: Amelia Roblin (Superstar) Jan 6, 12
{SummaryTitle}

There are two clever layers of packaging found in Eggrow by Kevin Craft, with one made primarily of paper and the other of ceramic. Indeed, the smooth white egg may be the focal point, but it contains a mixture of soil and seeds that is the golden yolk of this object.

The Savannah College of Art and Design student began with just the raw natural materials, sculpting them a perfect replica of a chicken’s egg for protection. An octagonal carton was constructed around it to then shelter the delicate capsule.

Within the cardboard box, a supportive base has been constructed. With a small hole in the center it holds the egg securely. This piece has been printed with a twiggy texture, where the interior or the packaging for Eggrow by Kevin Craft is a lush leafy design.
