Minimalist Fire Houses
The Dordrecht Fire Station by René van Zuuk Architekten Boasts Moderni

By: Alexandra Serrano (Star) Nov 12, 12

The Dordrecht fire station by Rene van Zuuk Architekten completely shatters an image of the conventional firemen’s hall.

Composed of industrial materials such as perforated aluminum and translucent polycarbonate, the construction boasts a minimalist look that differentiates itself from other dispatch centers. It was built to reduce the amount of noise in the area and thus Rene van Zuuk Architekten designed a stacked concept for the building.

The construction’s appearance is characterized by five building volumes, three at ground level and two aligned on top. In addition, the modernist look is enhanced by the ultra sleek industrial palette of the uniform interior and exterior facade. With its decidedly distinctive aesthetics and unique concept, the Dordrecht fire station by Rene van Zuuk Architekten exemplifies novel fire housing facilities.
