Technological progress is symbolized in the Digital Destruction Watch, embodying both old and new time-telling conventions and demonstrating that the latter is overcoming the former. Ross McBride’s design is modeled after an elegant timepiece from earlier last century; however, its most notable feature is a literal break in the familiar analog format.
Sold by CKIE, the digital watch incorporates what looks to have been a full white face with the numbers 1 through 12 around its perimeter and small markings arranged between them. Quite unexpectedly, the middle of the dial appears to have been shattered and the hour and minute hands have been displaced to the sides of the Digital Destruction Watch. Visible through this hole is a 24-hour digital clock that’s more easily readable to the younger generations.
