Every year during the months of September and October, 2011, Sydney, Australia celebrates the arts festival called Art & About Sydney, and one of this year’s highlights is the The Deconstructing Ways project, which is a mesmerizing piece that will take over the streets to question reality.
The whole concept, as it names suggests, is about deconstructing public spaces such as streets and give them new meanings. With the help of bright color and other materials, the road becomes an astonishing optical illusion, where you believe that there is an actual new path. New York-Born artist Isidro Blasco is the creator of the piece, which will certainly transport viewers to new dimensions. The city of Sidney explains, “Although you cannot walk through it, your mind is guided into another way of looking at reality, where the multiple aspects and details of any living moment are broken down and represented through a layering and overlapping of surfaces to create perspective and three-dimensional volume.”
If you happen to be in Sydney or you leave there, this installation is definitely worth checking out. Art that questions reality and daily perceptions are always useful to give new perceptions to life.
