These Common Cold Statistics Teach You How to Avoid Getting Sick

By: Michael Hemsworth (Superstar) Dec 19, 12

Yearly bouts of sickness seem to be the norm, but these common cold statistics will help get you through the season without getting ill.

On average, adults will have between 2-4 colds a year, while young children can have as many as twelve. Contracting a cold happens within a 12-hour span and begins with coming in contact with the virus: from here, the virus comes in contact with your mouth or eye before being swept to the back of the throat where it begins to thrive among healthy cells. To avoid this cycle, wash your hands thoroughly and often, and don’t touch your face while out and about.

If you’re the one who’s sick, make sure to use disposable tissues, don’t share towels and always make sure to keep your hands clean. Also, make sure to stay home and rest!
