From its name, it is quite obvious that the Cocoon House is inspired by the cocoon of living organisms. What is not so obvious is that it is also influenced by the volcanic topography of Jeju island in South Korea, where is will be located. That is, unless one is familiar with the various landscapes of this particular land mass and can detect the similarities between the two.
Designed by Planning Korea, the Cocoon House is comprised of various shapes such as spheres and cubes that give the eco-structure more of a sculptural presence than a architectural one. Although it is being lauded as an abode, the Cocoon House will cater both residential and business aspects. It will be completed in 2015.
