Jagged-Bottomed Tables
The Cityscape Coffee Table Turns an Inverted Skyline into Storage

By: Amelia Roblin (Superstar) May 31, 12
{SummaryTitle}

Given that most surfaces in living rooms quickly become magnets for all sorts of clutter, the Cityscape Coffee Table is a fantastic piece for practical reasons, as well as aesthetic ones. The belly of the object has been manipulated so to form an uneven slip, creating long compartments for the stashing of books, DVDs and all sorts of odds and ends.

The unique shape of this furnishing came from the outline that skyscrapers make against their deep blue background when viewed from afar. This jaggy silhouette was flipped upside-down and its contours were constructed and given depth by Trevor Vaugh with joined wooden panels. A chic whitewash coats the exterior of the Cityscape Coffee Table but some exposed rich woodgrain is visible on the inside.
