{SummaryTitle}

It must be pretty tough to be innovative when it comes to lamp designs, but when you create one that appears to change materials from different angles, you’ve created something special.

The ‘Molting Lamp’ or ‘Alchemy Lamp’ was designed by Yide Yang, who has a full portfolio online of interesting lamp designs, all of which appear to change materials. The effect was achieved by mixing and arranging aluminum and wood in a specific pattern. When the lamp is turned on, the light that passes through the rungs of the lamp shade also contribute to the optical illusion.

I totally want to load up my entire house with these awesome optical illusion designs from Yang, but this lamp in particular is not only sharp looking, but also creates beautiful ambient light through the bars as well.
