Hyperreal Paper Furniture
The Vincent Tomczyk Chair Design Series is Deceptively Hollow

By: Gil Haddi (Superstar) Mar 10, 13
{SummaryTitle}

On the surface, the chair design sculpture collection by Vincent Tomczyk looks plush and pliable, as though anyone could walk right up to one of his seats and sit down with full force.

Of course, if anyone did that, they would be surprised to find the delicate chairs immediately crumpling upon impact as they are not made out of wood, plastic and leather - they are made out of paper. Applying his painting talents that create realistic looking texture and shine, the artist paints his paper sculptures to have the appearance of real seats. I’m sure the art gallery had to put up signs warning about the faux furniture to prevent any potential accidents.

Vincent Tomczyk gives his chair design sculptures an old vintage look that makes them seem more authentic.
