One might think floating castles and mountains are just a fantasy, but Castle of Vooruit by Ahmet Ögüt is an attempt at creating a levitating castle atop a mountain.
From afar it looks like a castle on a mountain, but it’s actually an outdoor installation of a massive helium-filled balloon. Kurdish-Turkish artist Ahmet Ögüt created this sculpture for the a Belgian art festival entitled ‘TRACK.’ The balloon is at a height of 11 meters with a diameter of 8 meters. The building that sits on top is a replicate of the city’s historic public arts center.
The artist is well-known for his work that revolves around humor and pseudo-documentary styles. Castle of Vooruit by Ahmet Ögüt starts in May and runs to September.
