Carl Schramm Discusses the Role of Business for Growth

By: Rebecca Byers (Star) Mar 4, 12

Carl Schramm is the president and CEO of The Kauffman Foundation, which focuses on furthering the understanding of the vital economic impact of entrepreneurship and developing programs that enhance opportunities for business. Carl Schramm delivered the keynote address at the Federal Reserve Board’s Conference on Small Business and Entrepreneurship during an Economic Recovery in Washington, D.C. in November 2011.

In this engaging and informative keynote address, Carl Schramm discusses the powerful economic impact of entrepreneurship and the lack of attention paid to the nexus between firms starting and overall economic growth. Carl Schramm outlines the shift to entrepreneurial thought in the 1990s and reinforces the beliefs of his foundation when he quotes Kauffman himself in saying, “every time we help a entrepreneur start a new business, we strengthen the national economy.”
