Alcohol always seems to have a special way of livening up the palette, which is more than true with these bourbon baked apples.
These tasty fruit desserts are stuffed with a crumble mixture that combines oats, brown sugar and cinnamon. The fruit is steeped in the relaxing bourbon, which is absorbed by the skin of the apple and then left to bake. When the skin starts to brown and wrinkle a bit, after 30 minutes in a 400 degree oven, take the soft alcoholic fruit out. Plop on a large scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and savor the explosion in your mouth when you take your first spoonful of the bourbon baked apples.
Try not to gobble it down too fast, as it will still be hot.
