Amy Cuddy's Body Language Keynote Explains How Positioning Improves Confience

By: Jaime Neely (Rockstar) Oct 2, 12
{SummaryTitle}

In this body language keynote, Amy Cuddy shares her research and findings on body language, perception and self-confidence after having studied MBA students and their behavior in the classroom.

She begins her speech by discussing some of the basic concepts and theories on body language including the idea that if someone is being overly powerful in their stance and body positioning, those involved in the interaction usually do not mirror those actions, but instead let them take over.

She then explains how “nonverbals” govern how other people think and feel about someone. Her research was based on the notion that perhaps nonverbals also influence the way we feel about ourselves. She found that they do in fact, and that the more someone begins to demonstrate more authoritative and open body language, the more likely he or she is to experience an improvement in self-confidence and perception.
