Paradigm-Shifting Marine Organizations
Blue Ventures is Funded by Non-Profit Distributing Projects

{SummaryTitle}

Based in the United Kingdom, Blue Ventures isn’t your average marine conservation organization. As a social enterprise, their approach to funding projects stems from within rather than looking to donors as a sole source of support. By coming up with various business schemes like carbon-offsetting services, ecotourism trips and locally sustainable aquaculture initiatives, they help strengthen communities as well as conserve marine biodiversity.

“Alongside our work in fisheries management and protected area development, our programmes encompass marine and fisheries research, endangered species conservation, and environmental education and community capacity building,” Blue Ventures said. “Beyond more ‘conventional’ approaches to conservation, we also manage sustainable aquaculture initiatives, family planning and public health projects, and advocate at national and international levels for fisheries policy reform.”

Check out the featured gallery here to see mind-blowing photography showcasing a Blue Ventures expedition in Belize. This particular expedition is the dive camp of Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve, part of the Belize Barrier Reef Natural World Heritage Site. Click through the images, and the last few were taken in Madagascar, where the Andavadoake Women’s Association conducted training on sewing and embroidery with the help of high school teachers from Don Bosco.

All in all, Blue Ventures fuses entrepreneurship with marine conservation in a way that is as fresh as a plunge in the deep blue sea.
