The Bite Counter is a new diet aid developed by researchers at Clemson University. The Bite Counter is a dieting wristwatch that is used to, you guessed it, count the number of bites you take during a meal.
The Bite Counter counts the bites you take by tracking your wrist-rolls (the motion of bringing fork to mouth). The watch is designed to be worn out in public with the wearer tracking how many bites he has taken. Lead researcher Professor Eric Muth believes that the Bite Counter could also be used to measure the amount of calories consumed in a meal calling the device a “proxy for caloric count.”
20 Bite Counters have been given to test subjects to use for a one-month period. The team eventually hopes to put the Bite Counter alongside other dieting devices.
