The Moon-Regan Transantarctic Expedition team is going to complete their expedition (consisting 40 days and covering 3,600 miles across Antarctica) with the Lotus-designed and bio-fueled ‘Bio-Inspired Ice Vehicle’ (BIV).
The specially designed vehicle is powered by an E85-burning turbo’s four-cylinder Rotax 914 engine, which is capable of producing 100 horsepower and 106 pound feet of torque. The GPS enabled ‘Bio-Inspired Ice Vehicle’ will help the team to examine the impact of global climate change.
