The Bimba and Lola Spring 2014 Collection has just been released, turning to surrealist painter, Maruja Mallo, for inspiration. She’s one of the most influential visual artists of the Spanish avant-garde movement. Her 1952 painting ‘Mermaids’ in particular is held in high-esteem for the collection, borrowing notes like metallic sea green two-piece numbers set against a backdrop of geological findings.
The collection takes inspiration not only from the painting, but of different materials, whether they be fabrics, shiny iridescent finishes, metallic leather or loose knits imitating fishing nets and stamped neoprene resembling sea sponges.
The collection definitely gets you in the mood for spring and the nostalgia for long beach-kissed locks is a perfect accompaniment to these mermaid-inspired looks.
Bimba and Lola have struck a goldmine with these new closet favorites.
