{SummaryTitle}

Beth Ann Manguson uses an unexpected medium to make her intricate creations: eggshells. Using a a high speed drill and a steady hand, Manguson is able to create extravagant designs that excite the mind and intrigue the eye. She uses a variety of different eggs, including ones from ducks, turkeys, chickens, peafowl, partridges, pheasants and even quail eggs that are notoriously tiny.

Manguson resides in a rural farming community in Illinois, which she describes as the influence for her creations: “I gather eggs from neighboring farms and carve the shells into delicate ornaments I describe as Victorian Lace Eggs. I employ special tools and techniques to marble and etch eggshells.” The artisan sells her creations via her Etsy shop entitled The Nest at Windy Corner, where they’re available for around $30.
