The sky-high photography of Bernhard Edmaier captures the remarkable natural phenomenon occurring across global landscapes. Although Edmaier lives in a small settlement in Bavaria, Germany, his work takes on soaring perspectives. His photographic career has taken him from the outskirts of Greenland to the emerald pools of New Zealand.
The images are filled with rich colors and mesmerizing details of extraordinary terrains. The veins and other microbiological designs forming across the land is both surreal and alluring. His abstract compositions leave gazers guessing of the phenomenon’s location. While artists such as Edward Burtynsky observe landscapes altered by man, Edmaier searches for the untouched diamonds in the rough. Beyond the exquisite imagery, Edmaier includes a detailed geologic description to explain the history of the formations.
