Modernized Masterpiece Artwork
Ben Wiseman Reworks Famous Art into 21st Century Pieces

By: Michael Hemsworth (Superstar) Mar 20, 13

There’s so much to be said about the artwork of yesteryear and artist Ben Wiseman helps bring several into the 21st century by remixing them into modern pieces that reflect the times.

My absolute favorite piece is a re-imagining of George Seurat’s A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, which sees the inhabitants of the scene replaced with people you might find on the shore during a summer’s day. Wiseman also does other, pop art-esque works that help create a social commentary regarding post-secondary school choices and how we interpret our surroundings in the 2000s through electronic gadgets.

Each of the works that Wiseman has created incites dialogue regarding the past and the present. The ways in which we can interpret the pieces is situational and will no doubt provide varied opinions.
