Bata Shoe Museum 'Out of the Box' Documents the Rise of this Culture

By: Meghan Young (Superstar) Apr 23, 13

The Bata Shoe Museum ‘Out of the Box’ exhibit will be sneaker heaven for those who always preferred keeping their heads down rather than in the clouds. These sneakereheads will be be able to take in a range of archived designs from such shoe brand leaders as adidas, Nike, Reebok, PUMA and Converse. Even the Northampton Museums and Art Gallery partook by lending some of its wares to the highly anticipated shoe show.

Starting off with a bang this upcoming Thursday, the Bata Shoe Museum ‘Out of the Box’ exhibit encompasses the spirit of the like-minded sneaker hip-hop lifestyle exhibition known as Sneaker Pimps. In this case, however, it takes a more historical point-of-view by documenting the rise of the sneaker culture from the 19th century through to today.
