By: Alexandra Serrano (Star) Nov 26, 12

Showcasing a util approach to mobile housing, the Bao House by dot Architects optimizes space.

The construction is composed of polyurethane foam, a material that makes the cube water-resistant and thermally insulated. It features a mattress-covered floor that can sleep up to three people. In addition, the roof features polycarbonate, a transparent material that is welcoming to light. This mobile abode was created as a part of the Get It Louder 2012 visual art and design exhibition in Beijing.

The architects were asked to create a living space that is human powered, and their ingenious solution was this compact space that takes its name from the Chinese word for ‘bulge.’ Though the spacing inside is quite limited, the Bao House by dot Architects showcases inventive design.
