In celebration of all the fantastic new music that was released this past May, Paste Magazine as created several comedic literal band logos that hide the band’s name behind vibrant illustrations. Fans can guess which band each gif refers to. There’s Daft Punk, The National, Vampire Weekend and several others included in this fun series.
The Vampire Weekend logo is probably the funniest from a purely visual standpoint. It’s pretty obvious right from the start that the image refers to Vampire Weekend, since it depicts a fun-loving vampire wearing an orange t-shirt and holding a couple of delicious martinis, clearly having a relaxing weekend away from blood sucking.
With these illustrations, Paste Magazine has re-generated some excitement regarding music releases. Since most people can simply download a new album from iTunes, a lot of the excitement surrounding record releases is lost in the digital shuffle. With fun fan-made designs like these literal band logos, however, some of that thrill and anticipation is re-kindled in music fans.
