Alan Mulally, the CEO and President of Ford, delivers an automobile industry keynote during which he speaks extremely highly of American dealers. He refers to them as the group of people who truly know the consumer and who serve as incredible sources of knowledge and who contribute to the fabric of communities. He goes so far as to say that dealers are the most important part to the solution of the economic recession.
Ford’s next steps after the recession focus on improving fuel efficiency, increasing safety and build world class vehicles. The brand will soon start developing hybrids and then electric and potentially hydrogen. The success of these projects, however, depends on the willingness of both Ford and the American government to work together and collaborate in a conducive manner.
