Edible Economic Crisis Sofas
Austerity Edible Furniture is Inspired by the EU's Financial Crisis

{SummaryTitle}

Hopefully things in Europe never get to the point where Austerity edible furniture needs to be mass produced. This unique collection was designed by Lanzavecchia + Wai as part of the Padiglione Italia’s Foodmade exhibition. Each piece has a simple design and is covered with tasty food.

The black iron base of the furniture is only revealed after its edible covering has been eaten away. Food used includes a sweet hard candy used to make a coffee table, chocolate used to create a sofa and rice cakes that form a tabletop. The Austerity edible furniture is a fun spin on the economic crisis that is currently rocking Europe. Here’s hoping things shape up before edible furniture becomes a necessity.
