Fragmented 3D Murals
Clemens Behr's Installation Art in Berlin Looks Fragmented

By: Laura McQuarrie (Superstar) Jun 6, 13
{SummaryTitle}

Clemens Behr’s 2013 ‘Splitter’ art in Berlin is a series of colorfully fragmented sculptures. The 3D murals seem to resemble flat painted surfaces, but the artist adds sculptural elements to his work. Behr creates site-specific installations for each location, and doesn’t sketch before creating these pieces. Instead, the artist captures his creative process in photographs, creating a performance-like piece in itself.

The sharp angles, lines and many colors of Behr’s chaotic work creates the illusion that the pieces are in the midst of exploding. The name of the installations, ‘Splitter’ is representative of the process of deconstruction and construction that Behr uses to make these sculptural pieces.

Behr has become known for his use of cardboard in his artwork, but swaps this material for more ones that will better wear the weather.
