Arnaud de Vallois Illustrates Images with a Sinister Spectral Style

If you thought Disney villains weren’t scary enough with their excessive amounts of cruelty, then feast your eyes on these Arnaud de Vallois illustrations. Morphing characters such as Cruella de Vil, Maleficent and Captain Hook into spectral apparitions, de Vallois enhances the nightmarish qualities of these antagonists to something truly frightening.

And it’s not just Disney characters that get this treatment. Ganon and Poes from the Legend of Zelda series and the Little Red Riding Hood also become ghostlike after filtering through Arnaud de Vallois’ mind and paint brush. The resulting images invite viewers to simultaneously gaze upon the beauty of de Vallois’ work and to look away out of sheer terror.
