Floating Disaster Shelters
The Archelon Emergency Capsule Provides Refuge During Floods

By: Amelia Roblin (Superstar) Mar 12, 13
{SummaryTitle}

Introducing the mobile bunker: the Archelon Emergency Capsule. If a tsunami or a major flood were threatening a community, you’d want to make sure you have a seat reserved in one of these. The buoyant refuges seal tight and accommodate up to seven people, keeping them safe from harm for up to two weeks.

The broad and shallow cabin that Picomdesign came up with ensures that the vessel will not capsize. Its roof should always remain on top, leaving a set of solar panels pointed directly towards the sky. This sustainable energy generation provides power for the occupants of the lifeboat and even enables the use of a motor. The Archelon Emergency Capsule is complete with chairs, a private toilet, food rations, water, a navigation system and the ability to be linked up with others.
